flight disruption do to amsterdam airport toilet bomberFlights from Amsterdam suffered major disruptions today, as Schiphol airport had to deal with a bomb threat.

Dutch Border Police evacuated two terminals, due to an unnamed man who locked himself in a toilet and claimed to have a bomb.

Rob van Kapel, a spokesman for the police, said the man has been arrested, but refused to say whether the man had explosives on him.

[ We are just wondering whether the man referred to explosives, when he said "I have a bomb" from his toilet seat?! ]

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, one of the busiest in Europe, posted an official statement on their website: "Due to a bomb threat, earlier today Dutch Border Police has evacuated part of the terminal building for security reasons. A suspect has been detained. The part of the terminal that was evacuated has been opened. Flight delays and cancellations are expected throughout the rest of the day. We advise to consult flight information or the website of the airline."
