Last week, Vueling passengers were puzzled as to why their flight from Malaga to Amsterdam was escorted by two F16 fighter jets.
The Dutch Defense Ministry said they have sent F16 jets to accompany the Spanish airline Vueling when Amsterdam Schiphol Airport air traffic control could not establish radio contact with flight VLG8366 carrying 180 passengers.
The Dutch media initially reported a hijacking, which was quickly denied by Vueling. The airline said in a tweet: "Amsterdam activated security protocol due to a temporary loss of communication between the aircraft and the control tower."
