Jet2 low cost airlineJet2 are looking to drive down the cost of fuel consumption with newly designed, light-weight seats on board their Boeing 757’s that have begun to arrive at East Midlands Airport.

The launch of the new streamlined seats, which are thought to enhance customer comfort as well as save space due to an ergonomically designed shape, coincided with the arrival of Jet2’s planes at East Midlands. This summer Jet2 are launching cheap flights to 7 new destinations – Corfu, Dalaman, Heraklion, Lanzarote, Paphos, Sharm el Sheikh and Tenerife - starting from 19 May.

alcohol forbiddenEurope’s first alcohol-free holiday resort, Renovatio – aimed at recovering addicts – has been unveiled in Portugal and will open for guests in April. The aim is to provide a “safe, supportive environment”.

Accommodation is a restored 19th-century villa in the Algarve, close to Faro airport (find budget flights to Faro or Lisbon). It offers a wide range of activities, from mountain biking and hiking, to bird watching and tennis. There are also 14 golf courses in the surrounding countryside.

Aegean AirlinesAegean Airlines and Olympic Air have reached an agreement regarding the merger of their respective activities, resulting in the formation of a new company that will be listed on the Athens Exchange.

The company that will be formed as a result from the merger will carry the name and logos of Olympic Air, following the necessary transition and adjustment period, during which the name and logos of Aegean will be used in parallel as well.

The agreement is subject to the approval of the European Competition Commission, which is the relevant competent authority given the size and particular terms of the transaction.

NorwegianScandinavian low cost airline Norwegian continues to expand its base in Stockholm and launches direct flights to London Gatwick, Edinburgh and Munich, three destinations which are appealing to both business and leisure travellers. The new direct flights will increase Norwegians presence in the Swedish market, as the company is adding an eighth aircraft to the Stockholm base.
