Flyglobespan fails but you can still fly PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 17 December 2009 12:23

flyglobespanLast night, Scottish budget airline Flyglobespan stopped flying leaving thousands stranded abroad and many more despondent about their Christmas and New Year holiday.

Martino Matijevic - founder of the budget airline search engine www.whichbudget.com says:

"This is extremely unfortunate as airlines are not ATOL bonded and when they fail they cause chaos by leaving holiday makers responsible for finding another flight.

"If you have paid by credit card for a flight over £100 you will most likely, eventually, get your money back.

"If you have travel insurance take up the issue with them, but the most pressing issue is getting home or not losing out on your festive holiday."

According to Martino Matijevic of WhichBudget.com the normal rules of booking in advance don't apply here. "We regularly advise our visitors to book at least a month in advance. So even we were surprised to find that there were lots of flights to Nice still available with various budget airlines. Amazingly, a search on www.whichbudget.com found airlines offering flights from London to Nice, 16-29 May for less than £80 return, including all taxes."
