WhichBudget Press Release, 31 May 2006 FORMER YUGOSLAVIA IS NOW MECCA FOR LOW COST FLIGHTSWhether it's for a holiday, or to visit a second home in the sun, getting to the former Yugoslavia without breaking the bank is useful information for all. This summer sees the launch of Serbia's first low-cost airline who will be flying from Belgrade to Basel, Cologne, Bratislava, Budapest, Hamburg and Bergamo from 19.99 euros (one way excl. taxes & charges). Compared with the schedule equivalent price by JAT (www.jat.com), Yugoslavian national airline, from £68, the bargain is obvious. Wizzair are already in this market to the former Yugoslavia. But, note, while their prices are very low (like 1p!), this won't last as these are promotional prices that need to be snapped up quickly. So, why not strike while the iron's hot and head for beautiful Slovenia - which combines the stunning Julian Alps with the delights of the crystal clear Adriatic Sea. The capital of Ljubljana is a real gem. Wizzair flies from Luton to Ljubljana with prices from £0.01 one way (+ taxes around £20 one way). easyJet flies Stansted to Ljubljana with prices from £20 one way (return flight inc. taxes £68) Or how about beautiful Croatia? Arguably Zagreb has as much to offer as Prague, Budapest or Bratislava - just without the crowds. Wizzair flies Luton - Zagreb from £3.99 one way (return flight including taxes £65). Or there's the beautiful coastal city of Split in Dalmatia - once the capital of the Roman Empire. Luton to Split is available from £3.99 one way (return flight inc. taxes £83). easyJet flies Gatwick - Split with prices from £20 one way (return flight inc. taxes £68). Rijeka in the north is an industrial/commercial city, but deserves a 1/2 day visit and has regular ferry connections with Dubrovnik, the pearl of Adriatic. Return flight including taxes from Luton to Rijeka starts at £58. From there take the overnight ferry and travel through the amazing southern Dalmatian islands between Split and Dubrovnik (Hvar, Mljet, Korcula, etc.). Close to Rijeka is the ancient Roman city of Pula, another gem in this part of the world, close to Rovinj and Opatija, which used to be the playground of the Austrio-Hungarian aristocracy. Flyglobespan flies to Pula from Edinburgh and Glasgow. This part of Europe is ripe for discovery. And now, through www.whichbudget.com - you can do it for next to nothing.
