European travellers get a new tool for finding cheap flights

EUROPEAN TRAVELLERS GET A NEW TOOL FOR FINDING CHEAP FLIGHTS

A new website, www.WhichBudget.com, promises to consolidate all the European budget airlines on one site.

Launched in June 2002, to coincide with the beginning of the summer holiday season, WhichBudget has compiled a selection of 11 airlines, flying to and from over 100 different airports throughout Europe. With over 700 routes, it is the most comprehensive website of its kind.

Travellers can either choose their preferred departure airport and get a list of all the destinations various budget airlines fly to or, alternatively, they can pick a destination to see who flies there and from where. The site is bilingual, operating in English and French.

Martino Matijevic, the man behind WhichBudget, says: "The airline industry has recently seen an explosion of budget airlines and even the big players, such as British Airways, are now offering no-frills domestic flights. The idea behind WhichBudget is to speed up the process of searching for cheap flights by bringing all these airlines under one roof."

"We are not interested in temporary special discounts, but in genuine, no-frills cheap flights. Our ultimate goal is to compile a database of all the routes served by every European no-frills airline. Already, in addition to UK airlines, we feature French and Dutch operators."

"Recently, we had someone from Manchester who wanted to fly to Nice in June. They were only aware of easyJet flying that route from Liverpool, with whom they found a return fare for £85. Having done a search on WhichBudget, they found a flight from East Midlands with BMIBaby for half that price."

"We are currently working on a Destination Forum, where travellers can exchange tips of budget places to eat, go out, rent-a-car, shop, etc. in the destinations served by these airlines. This will help the site provide a more complete service for the budget-conscious traveller."
