LONG HAUL HOLIDAYS USING LOW COST FLIGHTS

Want a long haul holiday but can't afford an expensive tour operator's package? Why not put together your own trip using low cost long haul flights. The website www.whichbudget.com allows you to search on 110 airlines in 101 countries, bringing 15816 low cost routes to you from all over the world.

Take the Far East. Get yourself out to Bangkok and travel from there on budget airlines to countries such as Cambodia, China, Malaysia or Vietnam, with the likes of AirAsia, Tiger Airways, Jetstar Asia, Nok Air or One-Two-Go.

China has six airports served by budget airlines, with flights to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Another cost-cutting idea is to book a flight to Singapore (return price inc. taxes from £350), then visit Hong Kong for only £60 return. It would cost the same price as going to Hong Kong direct, but this way you visit two fantastic cities/countries.

JetStar Asia has one way tickets from Singapore to Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangalore, Bangkok, Phuket, Manila, etc. with prices from £15 one way.

Tiger Airways are currently celebrating the introduction of three new routes from Singapore to China (Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Haikou) with one way prices from £20.

Get to Australia/New Zealand and then explore the Cook Islands, Fiji, with the likes of Virgin Blue or Freedom Air.

Or in the USA, fly to New York, Boston, Chicago or the likes on a well-priced ticket from the UK and then use locally available low cost options covering other US cities and the Caribbean.

And don't forget, it's often worthwhile getting a low cost flight from your local airport to somewhere like Amsterdam or Dublin or Manchester, then catching a low cost flight to a long-haul destination.

The website already features 57 destinations in India, with around 300 routes. Indian low cost carrier Air Deccan fly to almost 200 destinations with prices starting from just £6, and there are more bargains from the likes of Pakistani AirBlue and AeroAsia which connects cities like Islamabad and Karachi for just £15-£20 one way.

This week they are adding further to their Indian sub-continental options with the addition of SpiceJet, Air India Express, and Kingfisher Airlines. Use www.whichbudget.com to book your Indian adventure, and save yourself hundreds of pounds.
