BUDGET AIRLINES TURMOIL
Europe's leading budget travel website, WhichBudget (www.whichbudget.com) has just announced it is removing Bexx Air from the list of budget airlines it features and adding the Czech airline, Discovery.
Bulgarian budget airline Bexx Air has been removed from the database due to the Bulgarian Government shutting down the airline's operations earlier last week.
Martino Matijevic, WhichBudget's Managing Director notes: "We very much regret removing Bexx Air from WhichBudget's database, especially since there is now only one budget airline flying to/from Bulgaria, serving exclusively German airports."
At the same time, a relatively new Czech airline "Discovery" has been added to WhichBudget, keeping the total number of budget airlines featured at 86. This airline offers good value economy and business fares between London City and Prague, as well as between Antwerp (Belgium) and Prague. While the flights from Antwerp are already in operation, the London City flights commence on 1 November.
Discovery's London-Prague route will be the only connection between this London airport and the new EU member state. In addition to the above-mentioned routes, the airline also operates flights from Prague to Geneva and Sion in Switzerland, Brac in Croatia, Monastir in Tunisia, as well as internal flights between Prague and Kunovice.
According to WhichBudget's Route Manager, Robertas Pogorelis, "The inclusion of Discovery into its database is part of WhichBudget's policy to promote smaller airlines offering budget fares, which are often not included in the major booking systems." |
